The Battle of Jutland
With Lieutenant Colonel Robin Miller
Tuesday 17th July, 10.30am @ Allendale House (East Dorset Heritage Trust)
Tickets £5, to include refreshments
An illustrated review of the largest naval battle, and the only full-scale clash of battleships, in the First World War. A 50-minute description and analysis of a controversial and inconclusive action, which nevertheless resulted in the continuing dominance of the British Grand Fleet over the German High Seas Fleet.
After 34 years with the British Army Artillery, Lieutenant Colonel Robin Miller retired to Shaftesbury in November 2006, having lived in the town since 1986. In the last 12 years he has raised funds for many Service and civilian charities as a hobby, with 30 presentations suitable for regional clubs, groups, and organisations. With Gift Aid, £20,375 has been raised for local and national charities and 373 presentations delivered to 12,843 people, in audiences from 6 to 172, and in 221 different organisations in South-west England.
